Meet Robert “Rabbit” Gould

Every saga needs a heart, and for thirteen novels of the American frontier, that heart is a young man named Robert Gould, the rider everyone calls Rabbit.

A boy on a wagon train

Rabbit’s story begins the way so many frontier stories did, with a family, a wagon, and a long road west. After tragedy strikes, a young man sets out on a wagon train bound for Colorado, carrying little more than grit and the hope of a fresh start. What he finds along the trail will shape the man he becomes.

From greenhorn to lawman

Over the course of the saga, Rabbit grows from an uncertain boy into someone the territory comes to rely on. He pins on a lawman’s badge, builds a ranch out of hard country, and gathers around him the people who rode west at his side. The frontier tests him again and again, and each book asks the same quiet question: what kind of man will he choose to be?

The trail makes the man. Rabbit just had farther to ride than most.

Why readers ride along

Rabbit is not a larger-than-life gunslinger. He is steady, loyal, and human, which is exactly why readers keep turning pages. His victories are earned and his losses leave a mark. By the time you reach the latest volumes, you do not just know Robert Gould. You have ridden the whole long trail beside him.

The best place to meet Rabbit is at the beginning. Start with Rabbit: The Beginning, or browse the complete saga.
